MUMBAI: Former All-Black fly-half Andrew Mehrtens joins the Radio 5 live team alongside former New Zealand team mate Justin Marshall and the most-capped Australian full-back, Matt Burke. They join an expert line-up led by World Cup winner Matt Dawson along with former internationals Jonathan Davies, Paul Grayson, Gavin Hastings, Dennis Hickie, Rob Jones, John Kirwan and Ugo Monye.

In addition to live commentary, Radio 5 live will also preview all the forthcoming action as Matt Dawson presents Matt Dawson’s Rugby Show. Earlier in the week, Mark Chapman will look back on the previous weekend’s drama in Monday Night Rugby Club. Both programmes see Matt and Mark joined by special guests to dissect and discuss the Rugby World Cup news happening on and off the field.
A special Rugby World Cup preview show, presented by Mark Chapman will look ahead to what will be the eighth Rugby World Cup. This will be simulcast live on BBC Red Button and Radio 5 live from 2000 on Thursday 17 September.
Outside of the sport coverage 5 live will also be delivering the latest news and stories from the Rugby World Cup as reporter Chris Warburton travels the length and breadth of the UK, meeting fans and bringing the colour and atmosphere from the regions.
5 live Breakfast will be live from Twickenham on the morning of opening day as Rachel Burden builds the excitement from 0700, Friday 18 September. Later in the afternoon Tony Livesey presents 5 live Drive, from 1600 live at the famous stadium counting down the final few hours before the Rugby World Cup 2015 begins.
On the days that home nations games take place, selected 5 live daytime programming such as 5 live Breakfast, Afternoon Edition or 5 live Drive will be live from the stadium soaking up the atmosphere of the day.
BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio Scotland, and BBC Radio Ulster will also offer live commentary of all their nation’s games while BBC Local Radio will bring its listeners news, reports and information on all matches as they take place around England.
