MUMBAI: With the success of Gaan Doriyay album released for the occasion of Durga Puja last year, Bhoomi band has launched the second devotional album â€?Desh Jurrey’ with Universal Music India.
The album will features songs in Bangla, Marathi, Punjabi, Rajasthani and various other, thus exploring musical realms of vivid folk and traditional music across India. The album was unveiled by Hon. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on 12 September.

Bhoomi’s band member Surojit said, Till date Bhoomi had created and sung songs which are related to Bengali folk and culture. Bhoomi has taken a progressive step in imbibing the various folks of India viz. Bhangra of Punjab, Lauwni of Maharashtra, etc through this album. The idea is to make the local Bengali community aware to the different folk cultures of India and subsequently make the music connect with the different communities of the states….

Last year’s Bhoomi’s debut album Gaan Doriyay received number of prestigious awards like ABP Group’s Bangla Sangeet Purashkar 2011 in two categories: Best Album by a Bangla Band – Gaan Doriyay and Best song by a Bangla Band – Joy Ma Dugga;and Zee Bangla Gaurav Samman 2011 for excellence in music as the Best Band.
The album will be available across the globe from 16th September 2011.
