MUMBAI: Kerala based Club 94.3 FM has planned a variety of on-air and on-ground activities for Onam from 1 September to 12 September to give the station a local flavour The activities would be carried out across all its stations at Cochin, Trivandrum , Kannur and Thrissur. The mantra for Club FM is Ton anakkinu fun; ton kanakkinu Music (Tons of fun & Tons of Music) for its listeners.
The events will essentially have all the traditional features of the festival including Pookkalam (floral rangoli) contests at colleges, technopark, residential colonies at Cochin in partnership with BIG TV Carrying forward the myth of King Mahabali visiting on the day of Onam, RJ “Veeru” will be dressed as Mahabali and will visit Onam-related activities across the city At its Trivandrum station, the station has planned Kalamodakkal` ( akin to the madka breaking contest during Janmashtami)
Winners of various lined up on-air contests will be called for an elaborate Onam “sadya” (feast), in partnership with Kairali Heritage, a leading hotel at Kannur.
On account of Teacher`s day on 5 September, the station will carry some on ground activities at Holy Angels College, Trivandrum followed by an exciting treasure-hunt among city On 6 September
On Sep 9, Club FM will organise inter-collegiate Onam fest organized at Thrissur Classical Dance, Kaikottikkali (dance performed by women during Onam), Maveli (Mahabali) fancy dress, Uriyadi (matka breaking) and Vadam Vali (tug-of-war) `Pachakaratnam Mahilamani`, the comedy cooking show (wiiner of RAPA award for best humour-programme on FM radio), will give listeners fun-filled recipes for dishes associated with Onam across all four stations Club FM Cochin will have celebrity guests hosting shows specifically around Onam theme Other events lined up include fancy dress for kids, ‘Thiruvatira’ (the graceful Onam dance performed by ladies) contest at City Centre, prominent shopping arcade at Kannur.
