MUMBAI: Music major T-Series has hit back at filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma by filing an FIR against him in Delhi, accusing him of fraud and criminal breach of trust, the latest in a long chain of claims and counter claims that both have been involved in for the last few months.
The music company claims that RGV has signed a deal for handing over music distribution rights of 14 feature films to be made by Varma, only four of which – Aag, Shiva, Nishabd and Darwaza Bandh Rakho, have been delivered so far. However, last month, Varma filed a case of cheating and forgery against music company T-Series claiming that he has been duped of over Rs 46,00,000.
Varma filed a First Information Report against T-Series head Bhushan Kumar with the Versova police station in Mumbai last month, saying that he had executed terms of a music distribution rights contract signed between him and T-Series by giving the rights for four of his films to T-Series.
However, according to T Series’ President, marketing and Promotions, Vinod Bhanushali, “It was a clear 14 film deal which includes home video and audio rights. He wanted us to do Go as well, we did it. Next in line was Sarkaar Raj. And now he says he wants us terminate the contract without giving any concrete reason. If he says Bhushan Kumar has an attitude problem, we are working with big names like Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan too.”

The FIR which was filed on Tuesday, accuses Varma of fraud, conspiracy, extortion, cheating and criminal breach of trust, under IPC Sections 385, 409, 420. T-series now awaits legal action. Adds Bhanushali, “He has already been paid for Sarkaar Raj, things can go the amicable way only if he delivers.”
