MUMBAI: South Korea’s largest mobile operator SK Telecom has launched an LTE-Advanced network which offers speed of up to 150Mbps.
According to the company, it is the first in the world to launch a smartphone-supported LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network that can download data at speed twice as fast as LTE networks and 10 times faster than third generation services. The service will be initially available in Seoul and its suburbs.
This service will be made available on the upgraded version of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 handset. The network can download an 800 MB movie in just 43 seconds if offered a transfer speed of 150MB per second.
GSA, an association of network suppliers, projects LTE networks to be available in 87 countries by the end of 2013.
