MUMBAI: Renowned Italian pianist Paolo Vergari will be performing at the Experimental Theatre NCPA, Mumbai on 22 March 2010.
The ace musician has been invited by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) as a part of ‘Feista Italiana’.
IICCI is a non-profit organization recognized by the Italian Government, whose main objective is to promote and enhance trade and economic relations between India and Italy
Speaking to radioandmusic.com, Vergari said that he was visiting India for the first time.
“I was inspired to come to India by a friend who is into yoga. I too do yoga, and have read books of Yogananda,” he said.
Born in Falerone (Ascoli Piceno, Italy), Vergari studied piano and composition at the L. D’Annunzio… conservatory in Pescara with Giovanna De Fanti, and subsequently with M. Della Chiesa D’Isasca, E. Hubert, A.Ciccolini, T. Nikolajewa, E. Murano and A. Hintchev. Vergari’s international musical career was launched after his success in the Johann Sebastian Bach competition in Leipzig in 1988
Besides the classic work of Johann Sebastian Bach, Vergari’s interest lies in music of Symphonic rock bands like that of Genesis. His Indian performance will have pieces from Bach to contemporary music
“Though I haven’t heard much of Indian music, I do plan to take some Indian music back home, and maybe on my next visit meet up with some Indian musicians – I am already looking forward to come back again,… he said
