MUMBAI: Programming for a radio station is the most tedious job, as one does not only have the listeners to keep in mind but also its clients (advertisers). Balancing the two, Radio City has moved a step closer to its listeners by revamping its existing shows. This is not it; there will also be new shows.
Music Broadcast Ltd Radio City has unveiled its ‘music focused’ programming lineup for 2017.
Radio City’s popular show that has been graded as No.1 amongst the young working adults and core advertising TG (Source: RAM Week 12, Day part Mon–Sat) gets a fresh plead. The show ‘Kasa Kai Mumbai’ hosted by RJ Salil and RJ Archana has been renamed to ‘Radio Ki Miyan Biwi’. ‘Taka Tak Mumbai’, a refreshing evening show which was a one army man show will now move to a dual jockey show with Rohit Vir and RJ Harshit taking charge. This show will be aired from 4 pm to 8 pm.

The station believes in keeping its listeners intact and thus it has designed special weekend programs too. It will be a mix of new shows and some reshuffled existing ones.
‘Aaa Dhikchik’ with DJ Rink will spice up weekends. It will air every Saturday from 10 pm onwards.
An interesting combination of food and music will be introduced. Sanjeev Kapoor’s ‘Khaana Gaana on Weekend’ in association with Food Food Channel and a tech and gadget show will be hosted by RJ Nitin with Digit.in.
From sports-TV-comedy-musical shows covering all genres of music (latest songs, Indi-pop songs, ghazals) will be aired on Radio City.
Radio City EVP and national head programming marketing and Audacity Kartik Kalla says, “We have always believed in pushing the boundaries by unleashing this medium and taking it to the next level by creating engaging content across platforms. Our new programming line-up for this year is yet another strategic and tactical move to create content that appeals to our listeners. At Radio City, we design music and content keeping in mind listener preferences. Our strategy has been to offer ‘maximim’ mood-mapped music that highlights the local flavor of the city and gives listeners the right mix of songs at the right time.”
Making music its priority Radio City has also added up new elements to the day’s programming. This includes customized products like ‘City Kachauka’ that will air four back-to-back songs and ‘City Ka Sixer’ that will offer six non-stop songs. Radio City will also have a 32 minute long, no break music segment in ‘City Ki Battissi’.
The station wants to set a benchmark by redefining music on the radio. As a special tribute to Punjabi music, it will offer ‘City Ka Flavour’ that will let the listeners tap their feet to Punjabi music.
