MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra shared the cover of her debut single ‘In My City’ on social media Twitter.
The actor who plays the role of an autistic girl in upcoming film ‘Barfi’ with Ranbir Kapoor gives a smoldering look in her cover picture.
Revealing the picture, Chopra tweeted, “For ur eyes only…my single cover! Say whaaaaa?”
Chopra will be the first Indian performer who gets to release her single at the opening ceremony of the US National Football League (NFL) on 13 September, which also coincides with Barfi’s release. Last year’s NLF had a viewership of six million.
The pop song, featuring Will.i.am, traces Chopra’s journey as a daughter of an army doctor who shuttles across the country as a child and lands herself into the glamorous life of fashion and films in Mumbai.
“I want the world to taste the flavour of India and my music will have it. I’m taking the leap of faith. I hope people are proud of me. I’ve given my heart and soul to this album. I don`t want my music to be region specific, but have a global feel so that anyone listening to it across the world can relate to it just as easily, much like Shakira’s music. It is very strongly connected to the roots but has a strong global flavour,” Chopra has told media.
The actor’s singing talent has earned praises from colleagues in the film industry. She made her singing debut by lending her voice to the song ‘Ullathai Killadhe’ in the Tamil film ‘Thamizhan’ (2002) and has also sung at promotional events for her films.
The former Miss India, who is a trained Western Classical singer, took the plunge to record an album last year spending ample amount of time in Los Angeles. The album (co produced by RedOne and Bright Kennedy on Universal/ Desi Hits label) comes out in 2012 end. She will release the album in North America with Desi Hits through Interscope Records and in other international markets on Britain’s Island Records.
