MUMBAI: The much talked about film, No Fathers in Kashmir starring Soni Razdan, Ashvin Kumar, Anshuman Jha, Kulbushan Kharbanda has just released its first song, Chol Homa Roshay. The song is sung by one acclaimed singer from Srinagar, Ali Saifuddin and is composed by two famous French music composers Loic Dury and Christophe ‘Disco’ Mink. It is an adaptation of a love poetry by Habba Khatoon, who is considered to be the voice of Kashmir and speaks about the cry for love.

Kashmiri music is a pivotal part of the state’s identity. Chol Homa Roshay is a rendition of this folk song, which is sacred to the part of Kashmir and their heritage. Interestingly, the song was first given to life by Ali Saifuddin, who is a celebrated young singer from Kashmir. His vocals were then given to film’s music composer in France. Loik Dury and Christophe ‘Disco’ Minck who are both celebrated musicians and music composers from France and they took Ali’s vocals and mixed it to keep the original authentic Kashmiri feel. They used instruments while arranging the music which are now rarely used in musical landscape; one of them being the Cristal Baschet, which is now almost never used by anyone.
The song has also been recorded in a female version by London Perkin Sisters.
No Fathers in Kashmir is based on two teenagers who set out to find their missing fathers and set with the backdrop of Kashmir.
