MUMBAI: Music streaming service Spotify has launched its service in the German market, which is cited as the “third largest music market in the world”.
The site will avail similar services as offered in other 12 countries including UK and US. The service will provide users with three choices of streaming ‘Spotify Free – ad-supported version’, ‘Spotify Unlimited- ad-free version’ and ‘Spotify Premium, which will lend users an ad-free music streaming on its Android and iPhone apps.
According to GigaOm, Spotify and (GEMA) Germany’s music licensing agency were reportedly stuck in negotiations for a long time. Earlier due to high royalty rates another streaming service Grooveshark, shut down their operations in Germany.
In January, the company reached the total of 10 million users including three millions of paid users, Spotify confirmed.
