MUMBAI: The Mumbai auditions of Indian Idol Junior received an outstanding response from the city. Kids aged between 5-15 years, displayed exceptional singing talent, impressing respected judges Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani and Shreya Ghoshal.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, music composer Dadlani said,” I am very happy to judge these talented kids who are so innocent and true that they are not thinking about any fame or money, and are here only because they love music. The kids have learned music for years and are happy to perform in front of us and that is really refreshing for all of us.”
With Karan Wahi and Mandira Bedi anchoring the auditions, a quiet positive mood was observed around the waiting area. Moreover, kids who were tired waiting in the queue for the auditions were still practicing to participate in the competition and become India’s first Indian Idol Junior.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Bedi said, “I have hosted other reality shows but it is going to be different here as this is Indian Idol which is the father of all music-based reality shows. As a brand it is huge and shows with kids often do well. Combination of both brand Indian Idol and kids is awesome.”
One of the participants who was a ninth grader was accompanied by her father, mother and younger sibling. She expressed that for her Indian Idol is a platform to showcase her singing skills and enjoy the experience to perform in front of esteemed judges. Meanwhile, her father said,”I don’t wish my daughter to be a book worm but I would as a parent expect her to excel in all the qualities she possess.”
A young girl striking a conversation with Bedi showed her enthusiasm for music in spite of being rejected. The seven-year-old was more than happy to participant in the show and enjoy the experience.
Indian Idol, produced by Fremantle Media India, will commence in the first week of June and will be held for a period of three months.
