Hungama partners artists for exclusive content

MUMBAI: Digital and mobile entertainment company Hungama has furthered its tentacles into the digital monetisation space with exclusive tie ups with artistes.

Veteran singer Roop Kumar Rathod has signed a year long deal with Hungama.com, providing the website with three exclusive tracks last October. Says Rathod, I have assigned three exclusive tracks to Hungama.com and according to the contract, profits from online music sales will be shared equally between the artiste and website….

The concept of physical music is diminishing and gone are the days when music lovers bought CDs. The younger generation prefers downloading tracks through the internet and carrying in their music gadgets. Internet is the future of the music industry and selling legal music also kills piracy over the web. Through legal downloads, the artists also get true value for their creativity….

Mentioning that Hungama has entered into similar deals with 20-25 artists, Rathod mentions that it gives him the creative independence to compose tracks his way. Sources mention Hungama has entered into partnership deals with musicians from cross section of genres.

This catalogue will be available for downloads on Hungama’s digital distribution network comprising of all telecom carriers and international partner platform namely iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon MP3 among others.

In the Bollywood dominated scenario, tying up with music websites like Hungama for singles might prove as the new age formula for non-film musicians.

Hungama plans to unveil its new initiative with an official launch on 7 January.
