MUMBAI: After a hiatus of six years, Grammy winner Biddu Appaiah aka Biddu is back on the music front with his forthcoming disco album ‘Guilty Pleasures’. The album will be released on Times Music this week.
The disco-house album comprises of funky vocal tracks rendered by some of the top vocalists in the UK EDM scene, including Phoebe Edwards, Chris Madin and Libby Holden. The album features contemporary dance tracks, written and composed by Biddu, and produced by one of UK’s leading dance music arrangers / producers Noel Ram. It consists of disco influences mixed with house beats and the current flavour in clubs across the world.
With a career spanning over five decades, the Indian-British music producer, composer, song-writer and singer has composed many hit records worldwide and is considered as one of the pioneers in disco and indi-pop. The singer’s popular track ‘Kung fu fighting’ became one of the best-selling singles of all time with 11 million records sales and earned him a Grammy award. His solo albums sold 40 million copies worldwide and his album ‘Rain Forest’ earned him four Ivor Novello awards, including the ‘Songwriter of the Year.’
