MUMBAI: San Diego indie-pop trio almost monday returns with their latest single and video, “lost,” a vibrant, escapist track that blends shimmering synths, pulsing beats, and a sense of wide-eyed wonder.
Written by Dawson Daugherty, Cole Clisby, Luke Fabry, and Simon Oscroft, “lost” evokes a dreamlike journey through both physical and emotional landscapes. It’s a song about escapism and finding yourself by leaving what you know behind and opening yourself to the possibilities of the future,” the band explains.
The accompanying music video for “lost” takes the band on a globe-trotting ride straight out of a Bourne movie-if Bourne leaned hard into B-movie camp. Directed by longtime collaborator Sam Kristofski, the clip follows the trio as they slip into absurd alter egos-Jean-Luc Sage as Dream Weaver, Coleman Rice as Big Data, and Darwin Herty as Chicken Bone–“starring” in what’s billed as an adaptation of the nonexistent spy novel Deep State by J.J. Clark. Complete with shaky surveillance, crowd chases, and the tense exchange of a very mysterious black bag, the spoof revels in international intrigue. Rebranding the track as an acronym–L.O.S.T: League of Operatives for Strategic Treachery – it’s stylish, ridiculous, and exactly the kind of tongue-in-cheek spy thriller you didn’t know you needed from a pop band.
