MUMBAI: After playing serious characters in her past movies, Rani Mukherjee is back with a bang in an eccentric and bubbly role in her upcoming movie ‘Aiyyaa’.
Composed by Amit Trivedi, Aiyyaa has six original tracks which are crazily comical and are very diverse in nature from each other. The songs bring in experimental and unconventional music style with some whacky yet really cool lyrics.
The album starts with ‘Dreamum wakeupum’ track sung by Soumya Raoh and Amitabh Bhattacharya, the song is a perfect tribute to the epitomic item songs of south films in 80’s. The south Indian parody is an impeccable blend of the trumpets tune to constant sensual ‘muaahs’ to basic techno beats to crazy lyrics which makes it an ideal foot tapping number.

Sunidhi Chauhan’s lavni, ‘Sava Dollar’ is a conventional lavani folk song with an endearing playful chorus. Next is ‘Aga Bai’, an electronic fusion track which has a mix of Hindi and Marathi lyrics. It is a peppy track with vintage sound and disco beats which gives an immaculate treat to your ears. ‘Wakda’ is another impressive Carnatic wedding song lifted by nadaswaram and a lot of tabla and harmonium. Sung by Sneha Khanwalkar in her original style, ‘What to do’ is an intriguing song and is situation based which depicts the dilemma of a heroine who is choosing her love. The last but not the least is the mesmerizing melody ‘Mahek bhi’ serenaded by Shreya Ghoshal which is accentuated by amazing musical arrangements. The track is an extra treat with her soulful voice that conveys that dreamy feeling of being in love.
