MUMBAI: Celebrating the 100 years of Indian cinema, Norway celebrated the Bollywood Festival between 7-14 September. Renowned Indian folk singer Ila Arun enthralled the global audience with her performance.
To grace the occasion various Bollywood stars including Hema Malini, Esha Deol, Manisha Koirala and more participated in the festival. Internationally acclaimed Indian folk artist Ila Arun also participated in the festival and enthralled people with the majestic performance. The fest also presented new and old blockbuster films and different types of dances this year.
Held every year since 2003, the purpose of the fest is to create cultural understanding within people living in Norway and help to increase the cultural exchange in Norway. The largest immigrant ethnic group who live in Oslo region are from Pakistan and India. Common to them is Bollywood culture – consisting of movies, music and dance. Bollywood festival has created a bridge between different cultures, where people meet; participate in dance training and workshops. The audience also experienced different films with live dance theatre and got a chance to meet actors and directors.
