MUMBAI: The Indian music buff needs no introduction to R D Burman, aka Pancham Da, His melodies, beats, background music transcended regional and cultural borders in the subcontinent.
Today his music is heard, deciphered, decomposed, recomposed and connected by legions of his fans across generations.

‘Jhankaar Beats’ was a tribute to R.D. Burman by Sujoy Ghosh. The characters of the film were R.D. Burman fans and the background score of the movie was adapted from various Pancham Da songs. There was actually a song named ‘Boss Kaun Tha’ which was dedicated to R.D. Burman. Vishal-Shekhar, the music composer duo covered R.D. Burman’s song in the movie.

Bachna Ae Haseeno
Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is an Indian romantic drama Bollywood film. The music composer duo Vishal – Shekhar recreated the title song for ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ with the same name. The recreated version of ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is a part cover, part remix (the song sampled Kishore Kumar’s voice from the original).

Bollywood Flashback
‘Bollywood Flashback’ (1994) is an album by Bally Sagoo who is a British-Indian record producer. He recreated RD Burman’s famous songs ‘Jab Hum Jawan Honge’,
‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’, and ‘Chura Liya’ in his ‘Bollywood Flashback’ and he became the first Indian artist to be listed on a national mainstream radio when the album track ‘Chura Liya’ (a re-working of Asha Bhosle’s song) was played on the BBC Radio 1.

Directed by Ashish R Mohan ‘Khiladi 786’ is an Indian action comedy Bollywood film. Music Director Himesh Reshammiya composed a song ‘Balma’ which is also a tribute to R.D. Burman. ‘Balma’ was sung by Sreeram and Shreya Ghoshal, lyrics were penned by Sameer.
