MUMBAI: As Bollywood audience enjoys varied genres movies in the second half of 2013, the industry has seen some of the most interesting trends emerge in the Bollywood music. Quite a romantic first half, the music has seen a tremendous success and acceptance by the mass. As per industry reports, 2013’s two biggest hits Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani are topping the charts on No.1 and No.2 position respectively. Also, reports suggest romance as the genre most loved by the listeners while new singers are well accepted.
As reported, the Top 5 Albums of the first half 2013, ranks Aashiqui 2 and YJHD as the top chartbuster albums.
Both albums from T-Series’ music catalogue saw a successful stint as they entered the market and are still the leading the music charts. A super hit at box office Aashiqui 2 saw an applauding welcome by the audience right from the launch of its first song teaser Tum Hi Ho. While, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani who earned Rs190cr at the box office also struck the right cords as Badtameez Dil and Balam Pichkari entered the markets and were instant hits. Romance seems to be the flavour of this year’s music.
According to the industry reports, out of the top 10 positions T-Series marks their territory in 5 spots. Aashiqui 2 is still reigning as the best music album of the year and Aashiqui 2’s songs Tum Hi Ho and Sunn Raha Hai stand 1st and 6th respectively on the charts. Adding to the list is Badtameez Dil on 2nd position and Balam Pichkari on 8th position. Adding to the list, other album from T-Series’ music catalogue – Chennai Express most enjoyed song 1234 also stands on the 5th position.
Aashiqui 2 album comprising of 11 original tracks are composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gangulli and Ankit Tiwari. Tum Hi Ho composed by Mithoon that became an overnight hit was sung by Arijit Singh and Ankit Tiwari’s Sunn Raha Hai also received a grand applause. A completely opposite to the romantic flavor of Aashiqui 2, YJHD’s energizing, peppy yet soulful album composed by Pritam got appreciation for its dance number Badtameez Dil sung Benny Dayal – Shefali Alvares and Holi track Balam Pichkari sung by Vishal Dadhlani – Shalmali Kholgade.
The year also introduced new talent who grabbed the top seats for their versatility. As per reports, the most sought after artists for the year have sung songs from the T-Series music catalogue. Starting with Arijit Singh, he has proved his talent by lending his voice not only for Tum Hi Ho but also YJHD’s Dilliwali Girlfriend. Following him is Ankit Tiwari for Sunn Raha Hai. Joining the list is Shalmali for Balam Pichkari, Sona Mohapatra for Ambarsariya (Fukrey) and Tochi Raina for Kabira (YJHD).
