Pandit Jasraj blesses disciples on sampoorna Ganesh puja

MUMBAI: ‘Where my parents are, that is my world,’ said Lord Ganesha once. Pandit Rattan Mohan Sharma and Kedar Pandit seemd to follow Ganesha’s footsteps as they got their Guruji, Pandit Jasraj to bless their album sampoorna Ganesh puja, an ode to Lord Ganesha.

An elated Pandit Jasraj blessed his disciples Rattan Mohan Sharma and Kedar Pandit for coming together for an ode to Lord Ganesha. This audio visual captures the essence of performing the Puja and related rituals in great detail over 2 hours and 47 minutes, and is the first of its kind. The album that is Strumm Music’s maiden offering, sees Ved Murti  Mandar Khaladkar Guruji and his team of five pundits take your family through the entire Puja process for about 90 minutes, where in Guruji instructs and guides the family through the rituals and the chants of the six priests, creating a divine ambience.

Pt Rattan Mohan Sharma, the voice behind some of India’s bestselling devotional albums, leads his band Brahma Naad in performing some essential Ganesha songs – Vakratunda Mahakaya, Beej Mantra – Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha, popular Aartis like Sukhakarta and much more for about 35 minutes.

There are detailed explanations to various parts of the ritual – what is the real meaning of a Puja?  What does Lord Ganesha stand for? How is the Puja to be set up? And so on. Says composer Kedar Pandit, who conceptualised the album,  “while celebrated all over India, it is most elaborate in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa and Chhattisgarh, Ganesh festival is also widely celebrated in Nepal, the United States, Canada, Mauritius, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Burma,  Fiji, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana, among others.
