Nick Vujicic to headline UNIFY LA Event at the Staples Center

MUMBAI: When riots in Ferguson, MO broke out late last year, the tension within minority communities nationwide quickly escalated. Followed with the recent events in Baltimore, our cities are reaching a tipping point with regards to race relations as evidenced in the current issue of Time Magazine.

“Unify LA is a collaborative effort to bring together our diverse communities in Southern California for a day of positive support and affirmation” said event organiser Mark Tsuneishi. “We recognise real change in our communities doesn’t occur unless we work together to first change hearts and attitudes.”

Nick Vujicic, an internationally recognised speaker who was born with no arms or legs, will headline the 6/21 event with his inspirational message of hope and unity. Nick has spoken to over 1 billion people in over 52 countries.

The Unify Los Angeles will also showcase the varied musical talents within the Asian, Hispanic and African American communities in Southern California. The musical artist include Joel Gaines – Jazz Crusaders, Larissa Lam – Recording artist, Lazarus – Compton Hip hop artist, and the Watts Area Minister’s Unity Choir.

“This division and violence needs to end,” said Dr. Robert Taylor from the Beulah Baptist church in Watts. He added, “This will be the first multicultural gathering on Unity at the Staples Center.”

Matthew Barnett from the Dream Center will also be on hand to speak to what is expected to be a sold out crowd. The event has garnered interest and support from throughout the state.
