MTunes continues to stay off-air; Satellite issues remain unresolved

MUMBAI: Remember the Doordarshan show ‘Chitrahaar’ that started playing Bollywood music in the 60s. Back then or should we say till the early 90s the trend of 24-hour music channels had not emerged. Today we have a bouquet of music channels, hence many times we fail to notice the absence of one.

Well, MTunes that claims to be a technically superior channel compared to its contemporaries in the music genre has been facing satellite issues. Yes, the high-definition music channel owned by Pioneer Channel Factory Pvt. Limited has been off-air for more than a week now.

“We are facing technical issues for quite some time now and are unsure as to when things will be streamlined. We are hoping the maximum time frame to be10 days,” said MTunes Sr. Executive of Broadcasting Playout, Mayur.

The channels broadcasting issue has pushed it a step lower in the BARC Charts. MTunes that usually stands in the tenth position got pushed to the eleventh position in Week 10 of BARC.
