MUMBAI: Forget New Year’s resolutions – L.A. electropoppers Ember Fx spent their January making plans to capitalize on the incredible successes of 2013 following the release of their album Lights and Action.
Among those successes is the praise of Music Connection Magazine, which featured Lights and Action in its September 2013 issue and ultimately selected the album as one of its top 25 of the year in new music critiques in its December 2013 issue.
“This pop-rock project has propulsive, hook-driven synth-pop songs that are custom built for high-profile radio. ‘What Aren’t We Going to Do’ (mixed by Jack Joseph Puig) is the best of the bunch. … Lights and Action has impressive falsettos that glide along with the changing tempos. Beyond that honor, radio fell in love with Ember Fx front man Michael Berns’ pop songwriting chops in 2013. “Hey Beautiful,” a song by Seven Foot Wave, another Berns project, is now in heavy rotation on Virgin Islands’ Love City Radio. Meanwhile, Ember Fx worked its way up the college radio charts last fall and is still making an impression – KSJS in San Jose will feature “This Town Tonight,” a deep cut from Lights and Action, on an upcoming special Mix Tape. The station also interviewed Berns on February 2nd for a live radio broadcast and played the first four tracks from the album on the show..What this year holds for the band is not yet certain – but with their established reputation for gold-spun pop melodies and great music videos, Ember Fx is a band to watch in 2014.
