Poetry, music and dance reached newer and greater heights in the later Mughal period. With poets such as Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Dagh Dehlvi and musicians such as Adarang, Sadarang, Manrang, Bande Khan and such others adorning the Mughal court, the atmosphere resounded with art and artistes. This period saw the emergence of the Dilli gharana in Hindustani vocal music as well as the Dilli baaz of tabla
The evening seeks to capture part of the romantic nostalgia evoked through the poetries of Ghalib, Mir and Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor of India and the evocative thumris through various nuances of Kathak style of dance that received patronage from select rulers and connoisseurs of that era.
