MUMBAI: Pakistani Singer Momina Mustehsan, who debuted with Arjun Kanungo in the VYRL Originals single, Aaya Na Tu, says that she didn’t feel like she was working with people from a different country.
In a Skype chat with media, Momina said, “I never felt even for a moment that these people belong to a different country and are not my people.”
“We are all about peace, love and dialogue. It’s great to collaborate with each other. We are all the same people. There might be political differences, but at the end of the day, I don’t think the individual person of the country has any bad sentiments towards each other,” she further said.
To this Arjun Kanungo added, “I think that art has to be one level above all these and we shouldn’t bring nationalities, race into it otherwise what’s the point of art?”
“Even I didn’t feel that we are from different countries. It was like two friends working together,” he further said.
“We speak same language, had same jokes,” Momina added.
Universal Music Group India and South Asia and EMI Records India Senior Vice President Vinit Thakkar also commented on this cultural exchange, saying, “We look at collaboration as the coming together of two artists, where the sum of two is greater than an individual. And that’s where the best collaborations happen, irrespective of what language or nationality it is, what country they come from. It’s just that when two artists work together and they produce something, which is completely out of the world, is when we believe that it is the best collaboration. And for me, Aaya Na Tu is a classic example.”
Aaya Na Tu, which a soulful tale of being left behind in love, has crossed over 17 million views on YouTube and is trending at number 29. The song is composed by Arjun Kanungo while the lyrics are penned by Kunaal Vermaa. The video is shot by Danny Mamik.
