MUMBAI: Community WiFi network Fon’s CEO and founder Martin Varsavsky will deliver a keynote at Midem on June 2015. He will share his vision on how the time has come for convergence and new collaborations between the creative industries and digital technology.
The keynote session will be part of Midem Talks, Midem conference programme covering key topics for today’s music business.
The theme of his keynote is ‘The Living Room of the 21st Century’. There was a time when living room was once dominated by the stereo and the TV, which were enjoyed by all simultaneously. But with the advent of smartphones and tablets in the 21st century, families now enjoy their own personal content. He believes that families still have the longing to enjoy common experiences. Varsavsky argues that the swing to individualism will revert back to a combination of personal and social experiences, driven by technologies such as Sonos, the Gramofon, Apple TV and Chromecast. “I am pleased to come to Midem to outline how new devices like the Gramofon and Sonos will transform the music experience, making music social and enjoyed by all involved. My goal is to bring music back into the living room,” said Martin Varsavsky.
Madrid headquartered Fon is a community-empowered company which is dedicated to build the world’s largest global WiFi network. Gramofon, a WiFi Music Player for traditional speakers, is the latest product of Fon.
Argentine/Spanish entrepreneur has founded seven companies over the course of his career, including Jazztel Telecomunicaciones, Viatel, EINSTEINet and Ya.com amongst other. Jazztel Telecomunicaciones is Spain’s second-largest listed telecom operator.
