PUNE: Geetmala, the popular radio show on Hindi film music, which ran for four decades from 1952 to 1994, will witness a revival of sorts for a day when the Society of Friends of the Sassoon (SOFOSH), a voluntary charitable organisation will organise Geetmala kay amar sangeetkar… a musical programme in Pune on May 30 as a fundraiser for its activities.
The host of the show during its entire existence Ameen Sayani will also be in the city and share his collection of audio-video recordings and photo montages of Naushad, C Ramchandra, S D Burman, Madan Mohan, Jaikishan, Kalyanji and R D Burman among others.
Speaking to Sakaal Times, Gaurav Bangia, from Aura, one of the co-sponsors, said, We have already had a show in Mumbai which was very successful and we will be taking some of the most popular songs featured on Geetmala and singers, including myself, will render the songs….
