Shankar Mahadevan is one of the busiest musicians in the country today whose innovations mirror a range of influences from East and West. Trained in Carnatic music by Guru T. R. Balamani, in Hindustani semi-classical by Tara Devi and bhav-geet by Srinivas Khale, legendary Marathi composer, he also listens to rock keenly. With a debut album, Breathless, out, he regularly teams up with Zakir Hussain for Shakti, Sivamani and Louis Banks for Silk and Four Swedes and Taufiq Quereshi for Mynta to do shows around the world. A National Award winner, he has composed the music for many hit films too.
