Ranbir Kapoor – Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s music is out for everyone to enjoy. Pritam has composed all the nine tracks in the film while Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics. The official trailer of the film was released in March which featured the track ‘Badtameez Dil’. According to reports, Kapoor will be seen with Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit in a classy dance number which is choreographed by Farah Khan. Ayan Mukerji’s second directorial is slated to release on 31 May. The film also stars the lead of Aashiqui 2- Aditya Roy Kapur who is playing supporting role in the film along with Kalki Koechlin.
‘Badtameez Dil’, the first track of the film, is rendered by Dayal and Alvares. It is a funny track and every time you hear it the naughty sounds made in the track add up to the mischievous cut. This track had caught many eye-balls as Pritam was accused of plagiarism. But going back to the music, Pritam has done a fab job in this dance number and it will be surely burn many dance floors.
Next track is ‘Dilliwaali Girlfriend’, yet another naughty dance number. Lyrically, please do not give much thought or try to sense the meaning behind the lyrics but enjoy it. The sounds used in the track are appealing with energetic rendering by Singh and Chauhan. It will get your body grooving for sure and lyrically it doesn’t hold double meaning so it is safe for kids to enjoy. On a serious note, again a lovely dance number by Pritam.
Festive-based track ‘Balam Pichkari’ is lyrically based for holi season. The dhols get the typical holi feel needed. The touch of violin blends well with the dhol accompanied by the voices of Dadlani and Kholgade. This track will be played in many holi parties next year.
Bhardwaj opens the track ‘Ghagra’ with her classical voice. This track reminds me of her track ‘Oye Boy Oye Boy Charlie’ where she rendered in a similar style. Tabla is used a lot in the track and this suits Bhardwaj’s voice. Her quality of voice does the needful magic. Lyrically, it is a mix of the modern style along with folk style. Music produced by ghungroo enhances the effect Pritam has tried to work on.
‘Ilahi’ is rendered by Singh with a strong presence of strings that is used throughout. Backing vocals of children are the beauty of this simple track. Children have spread their magic in this track. ‘Ilahi Reprised’, is another version of the track ‘Ilahi’ which has shehnai played in this one. The music and vocals is so attractive that you don’t really pay heed to the lyrics.
Bhardwaj’s voice gives the needed eternal feel for the track ‘Kabira’ and Raina just adds up to the whole feel without losing out on any part. The music is dim which makes this track beautiful to hear. Lyrics touch your soul as the singers have carried the words with such ease and beauty. Dhol is used all throughout the track ‘Kabira Encore’ to give the wedding feel. In the start of this track, Kaur sings her heart out describing a family ordinal of daughter when she is wedded off and Singh renders the original ‘Kabira lyrics’ .
‘Subhanallah’, a romantic based track is rendered by Sreeram and Rao. It is a good track and one should not miss hearing this. It will make you fall in love with it and Pritam has done a good work in the track especially.
Overall, the music album is catchy and lyrically, it has maintained the naughtiness needed. At the same time it is unlike the present day bold lyrics. Pritam has not let any controversy affect his music composing skills. The soundtrack is appealing and will stay for quiet a long in many playlists.
