Too many cooks spoil the broth – goes the adage. Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sunday’ has proved this quote baseless.
With Shibani Kashyap, Sandeep Chowta, Suroor (Pakistani Band), Daler Mehndi, Raghav Sachar, Joy-Clint and DJ Suketu composing various tracks for the film, quite unexpectedly and unlike Dus Kahaniyaan, the music does have an edge.
With a total of nine tracks including three remixes, the music sounds promising at the start itself. The track Missing Sunday sung by Mahlia Kamat, Suraj and Earl Edgar is quite a cool track. The rap by Earl Edgar is what gives this track a very modern feel. Composed by Sandeep Chowta, this slow composition is quite an attention grabber. The remix of the same is as impressive as the original sound track.
Shibani Kashyap’s Kashmakash shows the the effort that has gone into its composition and the outcome is quite appealing. Even though the song has lots of computerized sounds, it gives the feel usually generated by the singer’s original voice. The song has brilliant chances of making it to the top of the chartbusters. The remix of this song is also a good effort but the original sounds fresh and will be more liked than the remixed version.
Loot Liya, composed by Daler Mehndi and sung by Mehndi with Sunidhi Chauhan, is a fun-based track with the perfect combination of energy and tempo.
Raghav Sachar’s Manzar sung by Mahlia Kamat, Suraj and Earl Edgar is also as brilliantly composed as Loot Liya. The intensity in the use of instruments in this track is what makes this one a super hit in just a single hearing.
Bottom-line, the Raghav Sachar trademark can be felt in this track.
Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, composed by the Pakistani band Suroor and with Kamran Bari and Mohammed Ali as the lead singers is not so impressive, which is quite surprising. The song sounds very monotonous although the lyrics are beautiful; it is the composition that sags midway. The remix version of this track is better than the original with the fusion of sounds and instruments.
At the end is the Theme Music sung by Clint and Joy. Composed by Amar Mohile, this is one brilliant track which shouldn’t be missed at all. It has a beautiful combination of music, beats, instruments and rap which makes it the numero uno track of the album.
All-in-all, this is one good album which promises to stay on with the listeners for quite some time and also looks promising enough to make it to the chartbusters!
