Himesh Reshammiya who rocked the whole world with ‘Ashique Banaya’ and ‘Tera Suroor’ has made a come back after a long hiatus with ‘Bodyguard’. The singer has collaborated with Salman Khan after six years to churn songs which also offers a soundtrack specially composed by Pritam Chakroborty. Although it has the composition of Himesh and Pritam and is out-and-out Salman’s style album, surprisingly the album doesn’t offer many song ‘n’ dance tracks.
Comprising of 12 tracks with four original and eight remixes, the album is an absolute commercial and doesn’t offer astounding music. It is a drastic disappointment after Salman’s winning streak of chartbusters Wanted, Dabangg and Ready.
In the title track Salman and a group of singers â€?Band of power’ has tried to replicate the chartbuster Dhinka Chika, but falls into ploy fail. The track is not imaginative and is a typical symptom of Himesh songs. Salman has also tried his hands in singing and has recorded some verses for the soundtrack. The music also has a remixed and instrumental version further adding extra beats and speeding tempo in the already loaded song.
The album pulls down the volume and takes a softer tone with the next ditty â€?I love you’ composed by Pritam. It has got a melodies harmonica tune which blends flawlessly with the upbeat vocals of Ash King and Clinton Cerejo. Even though the song falls in d?©j? vu category, it is well padded with charming voice and amiable lyrics. â€?I love you’ has also got a remix and unplugged version as of previous track of the album, the remix version doesn’t offer much variety. But the unplugged version rendered by Shaan and Clinton Cerejo is already making rounds on entertainment media, the song has grown to be the winner of the lot.
Coming up next is the combination of Mika Sing and Amrita Kak with â€?Desi Beats’ which is a loud bhangra cocktail. The number is mediocre attempt by Himesh to raise the track with loud music. Mika voice is the only rescue for the track. The mandatory remix of Desi Beat is again a failure and even the Alam Gir Khan’s hip-hop version doesnt rescue the number.
The concluding track of the album â€?Teri meri meri teri prem kahani’ is a melodious tune sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghosal. The music will take time to grow on you but it is the only composition by Himesh Reshammiya which also includes tunes contributed by Salman Khan. The remix and reprise version of the song are not soothing as the original.
Overall, Bodyguard stays on average with two good romantic songs ‘I love you’ and â€?Teri meri meri teri prem kahani’. Sadly, the music won’t be much good for the movie to be a success, as it has got nothing notable to offer except the wide variety of unnecessary remixes.
