Technology driven thriller film by Anand and Chhibber, 3G features Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan and 3G enabled second-hand phone that fastens the film pace. Sharma is the music director of the film, who in past has composed really awesome tracks for films like Anwar and Murder 2. Apart from Sharma, the thriller based movie, features Amar Mohile as guest composer.
The first track in the album ‘Kaise Bataaoon’ is the only romantic number rendered by KK with sweet Jannat girl Sonal Chauhan. Makers of the film claim it to be the romantic song of the year. Sharma has penned lovely romantic lyrics which sublime well with the western styled music and soothing voices. Abhishek Nailwal has rendered the Cantabile version which is awesome to hear as well. This is more of an experimental version which cannot beat the original version.
Rao, Singh and Raina have rendered the track ‘Khalbali’. Lyrics, music and vocals make it very interesting to hear. It’s not one of the loud tracks if you hope it to be. It is slow but with meaningful lyrics by Shellee. Rao’s husky vocals matches quiet well with the western and eastern music. If you wish to have more of Indian touch then don’t be disheartened, Sharma has presented Khalbali in Punjabi version with Raina. Punjabi version holds the same music together. Both the version cater to their own audience.
Thriller start in the track of ‘Bulbulliya’ is trying to sink with the story line of the film but we have to wait for the release to see whether it has matched the concept of 3G. The track is mixed with eastern music and is pleasant to hear. Sami’s vocals add to the mysterious feel needed in the track. Lyrical didn’t enjoy it much.
Mohile has composed the ‘3G Theme’ which consists of wind, phone ringing and tick tock of the clock and suspense music to create the creepiness to go with the theme of the film. With no presence of vocals, it can be presumed that it is played as a background score. Nice attempt by Mohile. After all the melodious tracks by Sharma, this track is placed last in the album, I suppose a way, to remind the listeners about the theme of the film.
Sharma has made efforts and experimented to break his image as a romantic composer in the thriller film. The tracks are really wonderful to hear. Only by end of 2013, we will know if the romantic track ‘Kaise Bataaoon’ is the best romantic track of the year. But you can still watch the film and decide if Sharma has done justice to the film that will hit theatres on 15 March 2013.
