NEW DELHI: Heroes walk in flesh and blood amongst us until they face their moment of reckoning. Honored with the President’s Gallantry Award in the year 2008 for providing vital clues about the serial bomb blast in Delhi, Ajay (name changed) a balloon seller on the streets of Delhi rose to fame and emerged as the ‘Real Hero’. Seven years later the bravery award winner was struggling to find a place to live and complete his education until Red FM, the largest radio station of India came forward to help him. Ajay was adopted by an NGO after his heroic deed, but now is back on the roads of Delhi after he turned 18.
RJ Raunac through his show ‘Morning no 1’ on Red FM took up Ajay’s story on-air to invoke reactions from Delhi asking them to come forward and help Ajay get the basic necessities. Seeing the enthusiasm of Ajay for studying further to secure a life for himself, Noble Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi came forward to help Ajay in achieving his goal. Through this initiative ‘Himmat ki Kimat’, Red FM raised enough funds to help Ajay sustain his expenditure for next three months so that he is able to sit for his 12th class exams in October 2015.
Speaking on the initiative, Red FM, COO, Nisha Narayanan, said, “It makes me extremely proud asa great personality like Nobel Laureate Mr. Satyarthi has associated with the initiative. It signifies the credibility our station enjoys.”
