MUMBAI: Woman’s Hour Takeover week returns on BBC Radio 4 from Monday 14 – Friday 18 September as once again five remarkable women take over the programme.

Kim Cattrall, Nimco Ali, Bishop Rachel Treweek, Michelle Mone and Dame Jacqueline Wilson will all guest edit an edition of Woman’s Hour and work closely with the production team to provide their own insights into a range of issues and topics.

Actress Kim Cattrall’s edition of the programme (Monday 14 September) will focus on choosing a life without children, as well as explore the themes of ageing, being single later in life and loss.

FGM campaigner, Nimco Ali (Tuesday 15th) will examine women only spaces and the impact men have in female dominated spaces. She will also look at fertility: what do young women need to know?

Nimco says, “Woman’s Hour is a national institution for women of all ages, and it’s a real privilege to be asked to guest edit a programme, not to mention an amazing opportunity to talk about some of the things that are important to me. It’s a programme that breaks down barriers – they were talking about FGM when few others were, and now it’s a topic that comes up in dinner party conversations. I’m looking forward to exploring the current debates around the issue in my programme.”

Bishop of Gloucester Rachel Treweek’s episode (Wednesday 16th) will include a feature on the design and embroidery of her Cope and Mitre and a visit to a L’Arche Community. There will also be discussions on the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation, and supporting women offenders as they leave prison.

British entrepreneur Michelle Mone OBE (Thursday 17th) will look at the barriers to employment and business opportunities in deprived areas, the power of mentoring and how the mind, body and career are all linked, and what it means to be a good employee. She will also explore the psychology of weight loss and dating in the 21st Century when you’re over 40: if you don’t want to engage in the digital world or join a dating agency, how do you do it?

Michelle says, “I absolutely love Woman’s Hour and it is a real honour to be asked to be guest editor, we have four amazing topics to discuss and I can’t wait to get started.”

And children’s author Dame Jacqueline Wilson finishes the week (Friday 18th) with a discussion on bookshop owners, with three women who run second hand bookshops and another on being glam over 70. The programme will also feature interviews with disabled actress Nickie Miles-Wildin and Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy.

Alice Feinstein, Woman’s Hour Editor says, “Last year we had a great response to our guest editors and I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to secure five more inspiring women who will each bring a fresh outlook and ideas to the Woman’s Hour team. Their knowledge and expertise on a diverse range of subjects offers a starting point for discussions which we hope will resonate with our listeners.”

Jane Garvey will present the programme Monday to Wednesday and Jenni Murray will present on Thursday and Friday.

Woman’s Hour first handed over the reins for a takeover last year in April 2014, when JK Rowling, Doreen Lawrence, Kelly Holmes and Naomi Alderman were guest editors for a week.
