MUMBAI: BBC Radio Manchester is proud to announce an exciting new Breakfast show line-up from February 2015. Current presenter Allan Beswick returns to his phone-in roots, to shake up late-night radio on BBC Radio Manchester and Lancashire, while Alison Butterworth and Phil Trow will be waking listeners from 6am every week day morning presenting a Breakfast show packed with Mancunian warmth, humour, news, sport and entertainment.
Currently the late show presenter on BBC Radio Manchester, Alison’s track record goes before her and with almost 30 years in radio nothing will be off limits. Alison’s down to earth approach will make for a must listen show as she calls those in power to account and engages listeners in tales of every-day life.
Alison says: “After nearly 30 years working on the editorial and production side of radio, the opportunity to present the breakfast show in the UK’s best city is an absolute treat. If I can wake up Manchester and make the audience smile whilst delivering the news, then I consider that a great way to start my 50s.”

Fellow presenter Phil Trow started at BBC Radio Manchester in 1990 and was on air during the Manchester bombing in 1996. No stranger to early mornings Phil presented the stations first breakfast show of the new millennium, and spent three years presenting breakfast at BBC Radio Derby, before returning to Manchester two years ago to present Drivetime.
Phil says, “It’s taken me a quarter of a century but I’m delighted to get the chance to wake up my home city. I can’t wait to work with Alison and present a programme which I know the audience will really enjoy.”
Allan Beswick will be swapping early mornings for a lie in as he moves to the late show. Allan originally made his name with a late night phone which made for compelling radio at its best. His phone in will be presented on BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Radio Lancashire Monday to Thursday from 10pm – 1am. Allan says, “It’s going to be quite a ride. Since my last phone in there’s been an explosion of social media, so even more ways for listeners to tell me what they think – and you can be sure I’ll do the same.”
