MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi, Bengaluru’s sakkath hot radio station organised the ‘Mirchi Sakkath Singer’ contest, in a quest to select four talented singers who get a chance to perform with Sandalwood’s favorite composer and singer Arjun Janya. The star singer himself handpicked the best singers on-air, at a fun filled event organised at the Radio Mirchi studios.
Arjun Janya, whose inspiring music career was celebrated by Radio Mirchi RJs all through the month of April, was seen taking the role of a judge as he patiently heard various songs by auditioning participants. The four singers – Chaitra Nagraj, Ramya, Pradeep Kumar and Ravi Kumar, who were the chosen ones, will accompany the singer to Mangalore and Hubli; where they will get a chance to sing with Arjun Janya himself at Mirchi Gaana Bajaana. Selection was done from over1800 entries, of which 300 were shortlisted and the final list of 56 was brought down to the final.
Excited about selecting the singers, Arjun Janya commented, “This is the first time that I am playing a talent show judge on radio. It was great to see so much talent is out there and it’s very exciting to be part of Radio Mirchi’s Sakkath Singer contest. Radio Mirchi has always strived towards promoting regional music and singers, and through this initiative, they have once again supported in identifying regional home-grown talent. I look forward to performing with these aspirational singers at Mirchi Gaana Bajaana”.

Mirchi Sakkath Singer is an activity carried on the sakkath hot air waves of Radio Mirchi, with an aim to select four singers who have the ability to perform with Arjun Janya. The auditions and promotions started in April and has received tremendous response even among the film fraternity. Music personalities like Shivraj Kumar, Sharan, Shamita Malnad, Kaviraj, Chandan Shetty and many others have been featured on-Air promoting Mirchi Sakkath Singer whilst auditioning for the same.
