Wanted Yesterday is a band formed by three seasoned admen: Rajeev Raja, Prabhakar Mundkur and Subhash Kamath.
The name comes from a cliché describing the often-unreasonable deadlines in the ad world i.e “This is wanted yesterday!!” Since the band plays a lot of music from the ‘60s and ‘70s, the name also serves as a cheeky descriptor to the kind of music they revel in.
Wanted Yesterday plays a lot of covers: Of famous songs by J.J. Cale, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, The Allman Brothers as well as a variety of classic blues and rock numbers. But they’re not the usual tribute band. They bring a unique interpretation of these songs and play them in their own way. The use of the jazz flute, for example, changes the way these famous songs are re-interpreted, thereby creating a new sound.
Soon, the band also plans to introduce their own compositions in true ‘retro’ style. Wanted Yesterday believes “It’s time to bring back the golden era of music for a whole new audience.”
