The Kodály Quartet was founded in 1966 by students of the Ferenc Liszt Academy, and since 1972, named after the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. They are the ambassadors of Hungarian string quartet culture, both nationally and internationally. They have toured the world and have recorded the complete Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert quartets, among others. Their records have been met with critical applause worldwide and the current members have re-recorded both string quartets by Kodály in 2014.
