SOUNDARYA – LIVE!
Since she began her career in music 3 years ago, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Soundarya Jayachandran has focused on her style being mostly ambient and pop. She naturally brings to her music a touch of bluesy rock, pop, and soul. A familiar face for television viewers, Soundarya was also a finalist in India’s first English singing reality show called ‘The Stage’ on VH1 and Colors Infinity, on which she was associated with Vishal Dadlani, Ehsaan Noorani, Monica Dogra, Devraj Sanyal and Shibani Dandekar.
Soundarya has recently forayed into alternative rock spaces along the lines of Audioslave, Arctic Monkeys and some of her own music that she now focuses on. Rediscovering herself in a new light and accompanied by some of Bangalore’s most well-known talent, this promises to be an evening high on entertainment.
Soundarya has been writing and composing her own music since the age of 15. With an 8 year training in Carnatic music, 6 grades in Guitar and a professional Certificate in vocal performance from A.R.Rahman’s school of music, Soundarya says she found it easier to relate to western music.
Early Set: The Void
The Early set will be performed by All-girl Rock & Roll band, The Void, who have already made a mark among young music lovers for their energetic sets.
The Void is a four-piece all girl band from Bangalore, ranked as one of India’s top 10 girl bands. The band primarily plays fun popular rock and sub-genres of rock such as Pop-Rock and Rock & Roll, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Punk Rock, Garage Rock etc and is currently experimenting with a new fusion genre of Reggae-Rock.
Principal musical influences include Coldplay, Beatles, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, 30 seconds to Mars, Mumford and Sons and Switchfoot, among others.
