India’s Premier Blues band, Soulmate returns to The BFlat Bar, Indiranagar, Bangalore !
Inspired by the roots and groove sounds of the Blues, Blues-Rock, Soul, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Funk and R&B, Soulmate is fronted by Rudy Wallang and Tipriti Kharbangar. When often asked by people, why they chose the Blues…their answer has been…”we didn’t choose the Blues…..the Blues chose us”!
This band has amassed a huge following across India, playing to packed houses wherever they go. Their list of achievements, awards and performances is endless. Some of them worth mentioning:
Soulmate has opened for Carlos Santana and have shared billings with Matt Schofield, Johnny Lang and Shemekia Copeland at the Mahindra Blues Festival in Mumbai 2011 – Gary Clark Jr at The Jakarta Blues Festival 2009 – John Mayall at the Jakarta Blues Festival 2010 – Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal and John Lee Hooker Jr, Robert Randolph Jr at the Mahindra Blues fest 2012 – Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Dana Fuchs Band, Jimmy Thackeray, Poppa Chubby, Walter Trout at the Mahindra Blues Festival 2013 and then most recently with The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmie Vaughn, Doyle Bramhall II, Zac Harmon and Lil’ Ed and The Imperials at the Mahindra Blues Fest 2014. They have also shared billing with Guitar Shorty at the Ode To The Blues Festival 2014 in Bangalore in October 2012.
Soulmate has toured the USA twice ( including two sold out shows at the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C), France, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Disneyland in Paris, Singapore, Nepal and Butan – and have been a part of numerous music festivals in India and aboard such as Baltic Blues Festival, Mosaic Music Festival, Macau International Jazz and Blues Festival , Asia Music Festival 2014, Dubal World Music Festival, Jakarta Blues Festival, Jazzmandu, Gothenburg and Monsteras Roots & Blues Festival and more.
Soulmate have recorded three albums thus far, ‘Shillong’ and ‘Moving On’ They have just released their third album ‘Ten Stories Up’ at the recently concluded Mahindra Blues Festival, 2014.
