MUMBAI: Zee Caf?© recently started a brand-new reality game show, â€?Caf?© Mic Testing’ – The Hunt for Zee Caf?©’s Next Voice-Over Artiste.
Hosted by VJ & former Miss India, Sarah Jane Dias, Caf?© Mic Testing aims to put the aspiring voice-over artistes through a battery of fun, unique tasks that will test their creative vocal abilities. The game show will follow an elimination pattern to select that one sparkling voice that will go on to become the ‘voice of the channel’, across all on-air promos. The judges for the show include RJ Malini of Radio One, Mona Ghosh, a renowned voice-over artiste and Ankur Zaveri, President- Association of Voice Artistes. The winner of the show stands to win a jackpot of Rs. 1 Lakh from the channel.
Zee Cafe Business Head Sujay Kutty says, Most shows today are either a game show or talent hunts, but on Cafe Mic Testing we are mixing talent hunt with game show. The hunt for a fresh new voice that will lend itself to all our on-air promos is an interesting way to involve our viewers in shaping the channel themselves” he adds, “Voice over as a talent hasn’t been exploited as much as it should be.” The show is being shot at the popular music club Blue Frog.
Blue frog as a stage has been known to hold one of the best music acts on the town, however, off late they have also ventured into programming which is not only music. “We have programming for six day’s a week and at times it’s good to have something which is other than music for a change,” says Blue Frog co founder Ashu Phatak. “But we only support things which we believe in, for instance we won’t do something like a fashion show in Blue Frog, though we did get offers, we don’t really do things like that.” The idea is to support the young talent that is coming up and also absorb these young talents into our business he says
Kutty says, “For Zee Cafe as a brand, a show like this positions us into an area where we also involve audience participation, besides most content aired on the channel is largely acquired, but Mic Testing is something that we have created. There are possibilities that the show might go for overseas syndication as it is in English,” he added
Caf?© Mic Testing is slated to go on air on Zee Caf?© in early July.
