MUMBAI: YouTube has finally decided to take its music discovery feature to the next level by launching a brand new app called YouTube Music for folks in US. The app will be free for the first 14 days, after which users will have to shell-out $10 a month, for the ad-free service.
Through this app, YouTube will take a step forward in providing a completely new type of experience, designed to make music discovery through the platform easier than ever before. As far as music and artist discovery is concerned, this will be the way ahead for the music industry.
YouTube Music will recommend tracks to users and create personalised stations based on user tastes. With a subscription option-YouTube Red membership, users will be able to experience all that the music app has to offer without ads. Other interesting features include the ability to listen to music offline and seamlessly switch between video or audio-only and also listen to any video play, even as users surf another app or even when the screen is turned off.

The 2005-founded video sharing site has faced lot of criticism from the music community for not being able to restrict YouTube users who have been earning through illegal uploads. However, now the site has begun to use advanced technology to strike off all illegal consumption.
YouTube Music is available for both, Android and Apple users, and can be downloaded from Google Play or the iOS app store, respectively. The video introducing the new app has been promoted with the Chemical Brothers track ‘Go’, and a video that has been compiled using clips of various other videos.
