MUMBAI: Faaiz Anwar, who has written hit songs for films like ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin’ and ‘Tum Bin’, says there were times when he had to penned lyrics like ‘Chikni Kamar Pe Teri’ and ‘Chammak Challo Chail Chabeeli’ to survive in the changing times.
“Sometimes I too write lyrics just for fun and to appease the producer and director. I too have to survive in the changing times and have no other alternative. I had to write ‘Chikni Kamar Pe Teri’, ‘Chammak Challo Chail Chabeeli’ too for the film ‘Rowdy Rathore’ produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali,” Anwar said in a statement.
“If a filmmaker like Sanjay Leela Bhansali can make a film like this, why can’t a poet lyricist like me write such stuff? Frankly speaking, such songs do not have a shelf life and last for just around eight days and are like the first rains. They come and go. But looking at the need of the hour, one has to write them.”

After garnering acclaim as a lyricist, Anwar is now all set to bring a romantic comedy called ‘Love Ke Funday’ as a producer under the banner of FRV Big Business Entertainment Private Limited.
Prem Prakash Gupta is the producer of the film along with Anwar. The film is written and directed by Indervesh Yogee is slated for a July release.
Anwar has also written lyrics for songs of films like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Hello Brother’.
Why was he missing from the music scene in recent times?
He said: “I was busy trying to float my own production house and establish myself as a producer. I was trying to gauge what kinds of subjects are being made into films. If there was any story which was worth it, then I was ready to write the lyrics or else I used to turn down offers bluntly.”
Anwar further stated that he wants to concentrate not on quantity, but on quality. “I only want to write lyrics which touch one’s heart,” averred he.
He further expressed, “These days many lyricists have started emerging in the film industry, but he feels they are not quite aware of the art of lyric writing.
“The public is also enjoying their songs. And what’s more is that they become hits too, but do not last for more than a week. Music of ‘Love Ke Funday’ is up for a crucial test.”
Talking about the songs in his film he said, “There are five songs in my film. There are emotional, romantic, item numbers which people would love. ‘Naina Shaatir Bade’ by Sukhwinder Singh, ‘Tere Kudi’ by Mika, ‘Yeh Pyar Hai’ by Javed Ali, the title track by ‘Jojo’ and the item song ‘Amul Maska’ by Khushi Thakur.”
He is working on films like ‘Mumbai Dreams’ and ‘Mumbai Shuklaji Street’ as a lyricist.
