MUMBAI: Playing for the second time at Sunburn Goa, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike created an enchanted experience for music lovers at Vagator beach on Day 1. The Belgian DJ duo has a huge fan base in India and they currently hold #1 spot on DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll.
Speaking about the audience, Vegas said, “India is a country with one of the craziest, loving and intense crowds. Barriers are diminishing; people are finding their genre, finding the horizons in terms of music.”
“If the right person comes along, for the right collaboration, we are very much interested to do music which is Indian influenced”, asserted Vegas on collaboration plans with India artists. This year has catered a lot of music for the audience, new DJs have come in picture, which has made the Electronic Dance Music monotonous. In recent times many artists following one genre in EDM for the charts, which leads to more artists but less variety in music, which can be seen with Progressive house.

Indian audiences are evolving with more choices of music, they are experimenting on different genres in EDM. Recently in November, when Skrillex came to Mumbai, it got a huge response, as dubstep is one of the popular genres right now.
Speaking on this, Vegas commented, “A lot of artists have taken their own direction, creating their own form of music. I think there is still a lot of experimenting to be done; we will see new stars coming out in the EDM scene, which is good in terms of evolution of music. The more artists bring out new content, the more the music grows.”
Performing last night, the duo created an aura for music loves with their famous hits like, ‘Waves’, ‘Wakanda’ and ‘Mammoth’. They appeared as Tomorrowland hosts for the first time in 2010, and were allowed to make anthem of the festival, which was ‘Tomorrow (Give into the Night)’ with Dada life and Tara MacDonald. It was released by their label Smash the House.
