MUMBAI: Will.i.am will no doubt be partying like it is his birthday this evening after clocking up his tenth number one single on the UK chart. The Grammy Award winning musician released ‘It’s My Birthday,’ which features vocals from 17 year-old American singer Cody Wise, towards the end of May 2014.
Just over ten years ago, in 2003, Will.i.am earned his first chart topper in the UK with the Black Eyed Pea’s hit track ‘Where Is the Love.’
Since then, he has achieved the same accolade four more times with the hit pop group, which includes a number of chart-toppers like ‘Boom Boom Pow,’ ‘I Gotta Feeling’ and ‘Meet Me Halfway,’ as well as ‘The Time’ (Dirty Bit).

‘It’s My Birthday’ is a cover of the track ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ by Grammy winning composer A R Rahman, and is from a 1994 Tamil film- ‘Kadhalan’. Will.i.am’s track was originally called ‘Birthday’ but was later changed to ‘It’s My Birthday’ to avoid confusion with Katy Perry’s song of the same name.
