MUMBAI: Black Eyed Peas (BEP) member Will.i.am is set to start a talent reality show for cool geeks who can improve upon the entertainment and communication content.
The rapper and singer, who is known for his passion for science and technology is ‘fine tuning’ a new show ‘which will seek out rising talent in the science and tech fields’, a report said.
Last month, he had released his new single ‘Reach for the Stars’ from Mars from NASA’s ‘Curiosity’ space probe-the first time ever a song has been released from outer space 350 million miles down to Earth.
Speaking at Amsterdam’s IBC technology conference, Will.i.am reportedly said that talent pool for powerhouse vocalists on shows like ‘American Idol’, ‘The X Factor’ and ‘The Voice’ isn’t as vast anymore. Instead, it’s time for a show that could find the world’s next Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg, a plight that top companies like Google and Microsoft are looking to fulfill.
“Every year, companies like Google need more innovators, but there is no content celebrating them. The system thinks people are dumb and they don’t care. We have no desire to make them care. We need creative people working with broadcasters, making smart content to inspire people to be geniuses,” he said.
While there hasn’t been a pilot ordered for the show yet, he’s said to be already talking to broadcasters and “fine-tuning” the show.
