MUMBAI: One week after Mumford and Sons released their latest album ‘Wilder Mind’, the folk rock band has claimed the top spot on the Official Charts Company. The band’s third album managed to move 81,300 copies in its first week of release, knocking Blur’s ‘The Magic Whip’ from number one to second place on the UK albums chart.
The last time Mumford and Sons topped the UK charts was in 2013, when the band’s second album ‘Babel’ claimed the top position for the third time in nine months of its release. However, ‘Babel’, which was the band’s first number one album, managed to shift a total of only 159,000 since its release in 2012, till date.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’, which released almost a year ago, managed to climb back into the top five at the number three spot, with Ed Sheeran’s second album ‘X’ moving from seventh spot last week to number four this week. Rounding up the top five on the UK charts is Sia’s ‘1,000 Forms of Fear’, which moved up eight places to number five.
On the UK singles chart, Reggae artist Omi continues to hold the top position with his hit single ‘Cheerleader’, followed by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s ‘See You Again’ at number two and Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’ at number three. In fourth place is ‘All Cried Out’ by Blonde featuring Alex Newell, while ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer featuring DJ Snake and Mo, rounds up the top five on the single’s chart.
