MUMBAI: Delhi based event company and listings website- Wild City is launching the Wild City App on the Apple app store on 3 April 2014. It aims at being the go to application for events, music and news. Designed by Grappus, Mobile apps development company, the app boasts a sleek and minimal interface that can easily move between the three main functions and will be available for free download.
Sarah Chawla, Co-Founder of Wild City, revealed that they had been approached by a few companies who wanted to create an app that feeds off their site. “It was also a huge piece of feedback from our users; they wanted to be able to access the music and events easily from their phones. Based on this, a tech company called Grappus made the app for us. They kept the design and functionality of the app true to our online identity keeping it simple, minimal and easy to use. It’s the natural evolution for most online services I guess,” said Chawla.
When asked what novel feature the app provided, Chawla replied that it does not give the user any new, that it simply makes key information from the site more accessible. “You can listen to any of our 70+ mixes through the app, the variety is so wide you can use them for parties, hanging at home or even on the move/driving/on the metro. You can also quickly check out events taking place in your local city, this was one of the main reasons people wanted us to create an app so they now essentially have a pocket guide of our specially curated events listings,” she said.
The mixes, mentioned by Chawla are exclusive created by a hand selected acts/producers. The remit is pretty broad and open to interpretation. “We also encourage international artistes that are touring to create mixes so it gives our audience an idea of what to expect at their gigs,” added Chawla.
Explaining why the application is available only for Apple devices, Chawla said, “This is our first app, it costs double the money to get an app for android, has to be completely re-made so we want to see how it goes with this version first.”
The site saw most of its traffic being directed via social media but is now finding that it has become a lot more balanced with users coming directly to the site. The traffic predominantly comes from 18-35 year olds living in tier one cities in India.
