MUMBAI: Priyanka Chopra was back in Mumbai to promote her new single ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ and treated audience to a live performance of the track. The actor turned singer displayed her vocal chops by singing the entire song not once, but twice for a packed audience. After her initial performance, when the floor opened to the media for questions, a member of the press asked Chopra if she could sing again without the background music.
Although it irked Chopra a bit, she did oblige. She asked the journalist to join her on stage and sang in her presence. The actress also made it a point to snidely remark that the journo did not trust her singing abilities. Priyanka later finished the song, but not before politely reminding the journalist not to “patronise” her.
There is no doubting that the 31 year old silenced the cynics present in the audience who assumed she was lip syncing.
While talking about the new single Chopra said that she wished to empower women through this song. “I think when a relationship comes to an end girls usually get affected more than the guys do. And it is normally presumed that girls can never survive heartbreak. But through this song, I have conveyed that girls can survive a breakup as well.”
When asked if she will take up singing in Bollywood, she said to Radioandmusic.com, “Right now there are no offers from Bollywood but I would be really very excited to sing in Hindi.”
