What music lovers are looking forward to in 2019!

MUMBAI: Few trends of 2017 were carried forward in 2018, while some new were created. This year we saw some incredible work done by our music composers, singers, resulting into hit numbers. There were some bothering trends and controversies that rocked the music industry. As always, it was a year of a mixed bag. But, as we wake up in 2019, today, music lovers are looking forward to some changes. Hence, following are a few things that we can do without and some we need to continue in coming years, when it comes to the world of music.

Stop remixes

Enough has been spoken about the inane remixes. Sadly, it’s not enough. Remixing 90’s songs for films is a trend to be stopped with an immediate effect. Too many amazing numbers have been ruined by the bombardment of heavy techno sounds and random music arranging. A minute of rethink will stop music producers from spoiling happy memories of music lovers.

Original content

The music lovers totally trust the potential of our music composers. They can make original, non-remixed, plagiarism free content. We saw some beautiful tracks like those in 2018. And we want to see more of original music in 2019.

More of singers like Sonu Nigam, Shaan

While we are happy with the influx of fresh voices and new talent, we also miss the voice of Sonu Nigam and Shaan and would definitely like to hear more from them in the coming year. Hope music composers are listening to our plea.

Less of controversies

An ideal situation is difficult to attain. But that’s what wishes are for! 2018 saw #Metoo cases come up from the music industry also, which is a sad thing. We hope the fraternity works towards an environment where such malpractices are discouraged in 2019 as well as in the coming years. Though the Twitter fights and verbal wars among the members of the industry were less serious, a harmonious industry is what fans expect in spite of the difference of opinions that is a part of the territory.

Music reality shows with some reality

Rona Dhona, sobbing stories of the contestants should be stopped on music reality shows. The participants should be judged and selected on the basis of their talent only. Music reality shows are credible platforms to present new talent. Hence, let’s empower the reality show to bring forth new talent instead of sensational or sympathetic stories.

Continuation of meaningful lyrics

With lyricists like Irshad Kamil, Amitabh Bhattacharya to name a few, the pen is definitely in the safer hands. Songs like Qafirana from Kedarnath or Ahista from Laila Majnu or Mere Naam Tu from Zero had meaningful lyrics to hum by. We need more of that than random words incorporated in the song.

Encouragement of Independent musicians

The trend of independent music has caught up and we hope it continues for years to come. It is liberating for the musicians to express their artistic best. Also, this is one the effective ways to bring forth the folk music of India on a larger scale.

More usage of live instruments

While programmed tracks are need of the day, let’s also remember musicians, who earn a livelihood on just playing instruments. Also, the tonal quality of the song increases manifold, when real instruments are used instead of programmed tracks. This will also keep some phased out instruments alive.
