MUMBAI: Warner Music has officially announced the departure of Australia`s CEO and president Ed St. John from the company.
I am stepping down in order to explore new opportunities outside the company,… said John who has worked with the label since 2004
But lately the loss-making label had been disappointed with John’s conservative approach to signing Australian artists, media reports.
St John, a respected music industry identity, started in the business as a journalist for Rolling Stone in the 70s and rose to the top position at Warner Music Australia in January 2005.
Ed is also chairman of ARIA, the Australia Record Industry Association. There is no word from ARIA at this point if his departure from Warner will affect his ARIA position.
Finance director Mark Narborough, marketing director Mark Ashbridge and promotions VP Billy MacLeod will run the company until a formal replacement is made.
